Board Game
The Road to Done! Board Game
In "The Road to Done!", up to four different development teams have been tasked with building a Minimum Viable Product (MVP). Each player leads one of these teams and is given three crucial User Stories to implement. To complete a User Story, you must guide its pawn through the entire development lifecycle: collect resources in the Refine area, spend them in the Build area, and finally pass the tests in the Test area to reach "Done". The first team to successfully complete all three of their User Stories wins the challenge and proves they are the most efficient development force!

The “Road to Done!” is a board game for 2 - 4 ambitious Low-Code Developers
Game Objective
The player who is the first to move all three of their User Story pawns into the "Done" space wins the game.
Game Components
12 User Story pawns (3 per player in 4 different colors).
1 Die per player (D6).
Sufficient Resource markers (e.g., small cubes or chips).
Sufficient Acceptance markers (e.g., stars or chips in a different color).
Setup
Each player chooses a color and takes the 3 corresponding User Story pawns.
All pawns are placed on the "Start" space.
The Resource and Acceptance markers are placed next to the game board as a general supply.
To determine the starting player, each player rolls the die once. The player with the highest roll begins. Play then proceeds clockwise.
Gameplay
Players take turns clockwise. On your turn, you first roll the die and then move according to the rules below.
Entering the Board
To move a User Story pawn from the "Start" area onto the main board, you must first roll a 6.
If you roll a 6, you may take one of your pawns from the "Start" area and place it on any of the four corner spaces of the "Refine" area. Since all corner spaces are Event Spaces, you must immediately resolve the Event action upon placing your pawn.
If all of your pawns are in the "Start" area, your turn ends if you roll any number other than a 6.
Moving on the Board
If you have pawns already on the board, you must choose one of them and move it clockwise by the number of spaces you rolled. After moving, perform the action of the space the pawn landed on.
If you roll a 6 and have pawns in both the "Start" area and on the board, you have a choice:
Either move a new pawn from "Start" onto a corner Event Space as described above.
Or, move a pawn that is already on the board 6 spaces forward.
The Areas of the Game Board
The game board is composed of three concentric rings, with the "Done" space in the very center. Pawns travel clockwise around each ring, moving from the outer ring inwards as their User Story progresses. Each area has its own goal.
1. The Outer Ring: Refine Area (22 spaces)
Goal: Collect 5 Resources for your User Story.
Here, the requirements for the User Story are detailed. The resources symbolize the work on UI, Business Logic, Data, and Architecture. The four corners of this area are Event Spaces.
Transition to "Build": There are special transition spaces. If your pawn's move ends on one of these spaces and you have met the area's goal (collected at least 5 Resources), you immediately move your pawn to the 'Build' area. You may choose which of the four corner Event Spaces to place your pawn on and must resolve that event immediately. If you land here without enough Resources, nothing happens.
2. The Middle Ring: Build Area (14 spaces)
Goal: Spend all 5 of your User Story's Resources.
Here, the feature is "built." The collected resources are now spent to implement the User Story. This area also has four Event Spaces in its corners.
Transition to "Test": There are special transition spaces. If your pawn's move ends on one of these spaces and you have met the area's goal (spent all 5 Resources), you immediately move your pawn to the 'Test' area. You may choose which of the two corner Event Spaces to place your pawn on and must resolve that event immediately. If you land here while still holding Resources, nothing happens.
3. The Inner Ring: Test Area (8 spaces)
Goal: Collect 5 "Acceptance" markers for your User Story.
Here, the implemented feature is thoroughly tested. Each Acceptance marker symbolizes a successfully passed test. The two corners of this final area are Event Spaces.
Goal Achieved: As soon as a pawn receives its 5th Acceptance marker, it immediately moves to the "Done" space of the board. This User Story is complete and its pawn can no longer be moved or challenged.
Battle of the Devs
If a pawn lands on a space already occupied by an opponent's pawn, a "Battle of the Devs" occurs as teams compete for resources or priority. Both players involved roll the die.
A Tie (both players roll the same number): Team Synergy! Both User Stories get a boost.
In the Refine Area: Both pawns receive 1 Resource from the supply.
In the Build Area: Both pawns get to spend 1 Resource.
In the Test Area: Both pawns receive 1 Acceptance marker.
No Tie (different numbers): The player with the higher roll wins the battle.
In the Refine Area: The winner may transfer 1 Resource from the loser's pawn to their own. If the loser has no Resources, the winner takes 1 Resource from the general supply.
In the Build Area: The winner transfers 1 of their Resources to the loser's pawn. If the winner has no Resources, they take 1 from the supply and give it to the loser.
In the Test Area: The winner rolls again.
On a roll of 1 to 5: The loser's pawn loses all of its collected Acceptance markers.
On a roll of 6: Critical Bug Found! The loser's pawn is sent back to the "Start" space of the entire game board to be re-evaluated.
End of the Game
The game ends immediately when a player moves their third and final User Story pawn into the "Done" space. That player's team wins!
